The kitchen renovation for our client had a significant impact on organization despite the small size of the space. Situated on the fourth floor of a century-old building registered as a historical landmark, we had to preserve the original size of the kitchen. The area was surrounded by plumbing walls, entrance corridors, an operational dining area, and the building's outer structure. We also had to accommodate a steam pipe that extended from the basement to the top floor, supplying heat to the residents.
We opted for compact European appliances, including a counter-depth 24-inch refrigerator. Rev-a-shelf organizers were installed to make the most of the tall upper cabinets and the blind base cabinet. A once bare wall near the window has been equipped with custom-built tilt-out drawers for waste and recycling. The kitchen needed tailor-made cabinets to complement the farmhouse style, which respects the traditional structural interior architectural details of the rest of the apartment-turned-condo.
